On Wednesday, March 23, at 6:30 PM, at St. Ambrose Church, we will have our Taize Prayer Service. Many people who attended in years past said it was a wonderful and personal, prayerful experience. Taize is a tiny village hidden away in the hills of Burgundy, in the eastern part of France. Since 1940 it has been the home of an ecumenical community of brothers whose prayer, three times each day, is at the center of their life. Today, Taize is a place to which visitors of all ages and backgrounds come on pilgrimage, to participate in international meetings of prayer and reflection. A Taize service is a very calming and intimate time with our Lord. It is very informal and many of the younger people prefer to sit on the floor rather than on a chair or in a pew. The songs of Taize are very simple short biblical phrases with simple melodies. They are repeated over and over until they settle in and take our distractions of the outside world away. As the people get comfortable with the melodies they are asked to join in singing the songs. There are several periods of silence where we can just sit back and let the Lord speak to us. It does not cost anything, and is open to people of all denominations, Catholics and Non-Catholics alike. Please join us on March 23, tell your friends and bring them along. | 24 St. Ambrose Rosary Guild
